EZ Advocates LLC Review

Table of Contents

EZ Advocates LLC is another timeshare exit company that may be able to help get you out of your timeshare. They are located in Portland, ME, and have been in business for five years.

Website

The website for EZ Advocates LLC appears to be well-built at first glance. The design is fluid and fairly consistent, and the navigation is simple, with just a few different subpages. Their main claim is as follows:

  • “EZ Advocates, LLC is a consumer protection agency based out of Portland Maine. Maine is a state that has been built on trust, integrity, and hard work. Mainers have a true belief in staying true to their word. At EZ Advocates you can expect nothing short of these expectations. The EZ Advocates team specializes in consumer protection and they always deliver as promised, on time.”

However, a closer look at the content, which similarly looks to use all the “right” phrases, tells a bit of a different story. There’s a great deal of filler and fluff, as well as sporadic grammatical and spelling errors, both of which make it difficult to trust what the pages say. For example, the Our Services page states:

  • “Here at EZ Advocates LLC we have experts review and approve our documents to ensure quality and professionalism is displayed throughout every square inch of the document. Clients have the option of receiving all of the paperwork in advance in good faith. Once received, they would carry out the service or they are more than welcome to request our assistance in the preparation of the forms. Our seasoned advocates will give a helping hand throughout the duration of the agreement for an Advocate will be assigned to you from step “A” to step “Z” to assure you everything is handled properly.”

There isn’t anything here that clarifies what processes EZ Advocates LLC uses to get you out of a timeshare contract. Furthermore, their constant use of the word “advocates” is strange, and seems to gloss over the fact that they definitely aren’t working with actual legal professionals or lawyers. Even their use of the phrase “consumer protection agency” is an odd choice, given that it’s pretty ubiquitous, and it allows them to be in business without ever having to outright say that they are a timeshare exit company.

In tandem with this, the About Us page is staggeringly vague:

  • “Each of our clients are assigned their own personal advocate to answer any questions or provide any assistance. Not only are they professionals but they are also punctual, respectful & most importantly, helpful. Your advocate will always get back to you in a timely manner. At EZ Advocates we understand your urgency for answers to any questions or concerns you may have along the way. To ease your stress on availability to contact your personal advocate, our customer service dedicates 12 hours of each business day to ensure all of your questions are promptly answered.”

In summary, there is plenty of lip service paid to EZ Advocates LLC being fast and efficient, and caring about helping those who have been taken advantage of, but zero information about how they operate or who these “advocates” actually are. We didn’t find any photos of actual employees or owners of this business on the website or anywhere else.

On top of all of this, EZ Advocates LLC’s website has a survey on the Let Us Help page that is poorly written, includes a broken pdf to a “welcome package,” and uses language that encourages a victim mindset. The last of these is a clear red flag; it’s always a good idea to be wary around anyone who emphasizes your being a victim to get your business, as chances are good they will use that status to their advantage.

Reviews

In searching for reviews of EZ Advocates LLC, we unearthed a great deal of information regarding why they don’t feature their owners and “advocates” on their website. While there are definitely positive reviews to be found on both Google and their BBB page — the latter of which, we should note, does show their being accredited and awards them 4.69 out of 5 stars — there’s a sufficient amount of complaints to prompt follow-up questions.

Several people noted in their complaints that they paid EZ Advocates LLC and never heard from them again. This indicates not only that they require upfront payments, but also that they have a spotty history. More than one instance of this kind of activity is a pattern, rather than a series of misunderstandings.

This pattern led us to look more deeply into the company’s licensing and ownership, but it turned out that we could not find any registration information for them either on OpenCorporates or through Maine’s Secretary of State database. They’re also not part of the Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce, in spite of what their website graphics would lead one to believe. So for all intents and purposes, EZ Advocates LLC is not a viable company.

We did find that the purported owner, Rahaman Kargar, lists the EZ Advocates LLC website on his social media profiles and has himself listed as owner on LinkedIn, though that’s the extent of what we found. At least, we should say, that’s the extent of what we found for EZ Advocates LLC — it turns out that he is also considered the owner of a very similar company called Pine Tree Consultants, located in Portland, ME as well (at the same address, no less). The Yelp, Google, and BBB reviews for Pine Tree Consultants very much reflect the few complaints we found for EZ Advocates LLC:

  • “This company is a scam. They take your money and do not do what they said what they would do to get you out of your Timeshare.  They also tell you at the beginning of the contract  that you will receive 100 percent of your money back if they cannot get you out of your timeshare. That just to sucker you in to getting your money. They use weak ass letters to send to your timeshare, and often send you the same letters to send out for you to mail out again. When you ask for your money back they claims you have went pass 18 months therefore you are not entitled to a refund. They never got you out of your timeshare even though they claim such timeshare as Wyndham takes longer. You call and email them  severals months before your 18 months are up and they will  not return your calls or emails until your 18 months are up.  The attorney is never available when you ask to speak to him..   Also your credit will be destroyed in the meantime. The FBI needs  to investigate this company for scamming people and prosecute them.    They have multiple  complaints . Search the internet before using them.  In the meantime I will have a lawyer working on my case. Beware Pinetree Consultant.”

According to Maine’s business registry, a local attorney named Jeffrey B. Herbert — who works at another law firm entirely — is supposed to be the operating agent for Pine Tree Consultants, so there’s something amiss here. Either way, the bottom line is that EZ Advocates LLC is an unregistered business, and the owner seems to have his hands in several arenas just because they could potentially make him money. He is either lying about being part owner of Pine Tree Consultants, or has registered the company using another person’s name; either way, it makes this situation incredibly questionable at best and fraudulent at worst. Fortunately, a handful of people seem to be aware of this, given the reviews cited above.

Cost

Costs are not directly cited on EZ Advocates LLC’s website. While there is an option to “Get a quote” on the Services page, the link just leads to the Contact page, so there’s no way to immediately get a numeric value of what you could expect to pay.

That said, based on the reviews, it is almost certain that you could expect to pay upfront. Costs varied — again, based on the reviews — from $175 per month to nearly $3200 total. But we never recommend that you work with a timeshare exit company who demands payments before taking any action. In general, it’s best to find a company that uses escrow for payment. That way, you can be sure that they won’t get paid unless they actually help you get out of your contract. To learn more about why escrow is important, you can visit this page.

Summary

Avoid doing business with EZ Advocates LLC. The typical green flags of BBB accreditation and positive reviews do not apply to this situation: there appears to be a high level of fraud going on with them, and it’s surprising that no real legal action has taken against EZ Advocates LLC’s owner yet. Rather than getting involved with another scam to find a way out of your timeshare, we would recommend looking into one of our recommended companies. All of these businesses are trustworthy, and have a history of not only helping people get rid of their timeshares, but doing so through escrow-based payments.

Remember, it’s possible to find legitimate help for your timeshare situation, and you should never let something that looks better than it is make you believe otherwise. If you have more questions about this or another company, or your specific situation, please feel free to get in touch. You can do so by filling out our contact form, initiating the live chat, or giving us a call at 833-416-8796.
