Like so many other timeshare companies, everything about Absolute World Group looks pretty good at first glance. There are pictures of beautiful resorts, plenty of options for destinations to choose from, and a general sense that you’ll be able to have amazing vacations time after time as an owner.
I understand the appeal of this kind of advertising, and I understand why so many people end up as owners. Unfortunately, you might be on this page because the ownership experience has not been what you had hoped. If that’s the case, let’s use this page to review your options and hopefully help you find a way out.
What is Absolute World Group
Absolute World Group is one of the largest shared ownership developers in the world. The phrase “shared ownership developer”, of course, is just another way to say timeshare. According to the company’s website, they have been in business since 1998 and have worked on projects in 21 different countries. This is a brand that is focused on developing and promoting properties specifically in some of the many attractive travel destinations in Asia.
Within the Absolute World Group, there are a number of sub brands, such as Absolute Vacation Club. The website boasts 26 locations globally that fall under the Absolute Vacation Club brand, with over 200 resorts available when the partner network is included.
As is the case with so many timeshares, it’s easy to see why people are drawn to the idea of ownership. The pictures of these resorts are absolutely stunning, and between the locations and the amenities, it’s hard to imagine how you could ever have a bad time on a trip to one of these places.
Facing the Problems of Timeshare Ownership
So, if everything about Absolute World Group and the Absolute Vacation Club looks so promising from the outside, why would you want to get out? It comes down to the many problems that tend to plague virtually every timeshare around the world. This is an experience that sounds great in theory but never quite works out as you would like.
For starters, owning a timeshare tends to be far more expensive than people expect it to be. You might think that most of the cost comes in the form of the upfront purchase price, but that’s not really how it works. You’ll continue to pay ongoing maintenance fees while you are an owner, and you will likely be required to pay occasional assessments, as well. As a starting point, I need to explain something called a recission period. This is a period of time during which you have the legal right to back out of your timeshare purchase with no questions asked (and no money lost). This is a great opportunity to leave the timeshare, and is the best way to exit, but unfortunately, there are only a few days for you to do it. For example, in Thailand, the period during which you can cancel is only seven days. So, if you happen to be reading this right after buying a timeshare with Absolute World Group, consider canceling immediately and walking away without any damage to your financial life.
Of course, for most of the people reading this, the recission period has long since come and gone. In fact, you might have owned your timeshare for years at this point. That doesn’t mean you are stuck forever, but it does mean you will have a little more work to do if you hope to get out in the near future.
The best starting point for people in this situation is just to contact Absolute World Group directly and express your desire to leave. Don’t feel bad for making this call or sending this email – you aren’t the first owner who has wanted to leave, and you aren’t going to be the last.

Sometimes, timeshare companies will want to take back contracts so they can resell them to new owners. If the timeshare company, doesn’t have anything to offer you, the next step is to think about trying to sell the timeshare on the open market. You have the right as an owner to sell your ownership stake to someone else, as long as you can find a willing buyer. That’s the tricky part, of course. There aren’t going to be a lot of excited buyers out there waiting to take on the obligations that come with your contract, so expect this to be a challenge. With that said, just because it’s challenging doesn’t mean it’s impossible, and if you are patient enough you might be able to find someone who wants to make the purchase.
Finding the Right Help
Despite your best efforts, it may prove to be the case that you just can’t find a way out of your Absolute World Group timeshare on your own. That’s not a failure that falls on your shoulders – it’s just a reality of the timeshare system and how hard it can be to exit these contracts.
